Re: Reference for Aircraft Welding – Pitts Special
This letter serves to confirm that Dean Jolley, from Imagineering, work on my Pitts S1, and did all the welding required for the fabrication of our Pitts Special fuselage and tail
feathers with 4130 Chromoly.
The work took approximately 140 hours of welding time, over a period of 18 months. During this
time Dean drove to the workshop, working for 3 - 4 hours at a time on Tuesday evenings.
Dean is not only a source of deep knowledge with respect to metallurgy and aircraft welding, but
also is a fine and experienced welder, and I have nothing but high praise for the quality of his work.
From time to time I have people coming to look at the aircraft, and without fail there is mention
made of how neat and impressive the welding is. Dean was able to save quite a few poor areas of my fabrication and was able to safely close some large gaps safely that saved me a large amount of time.
He is reliable and professional, and always on time! A pleasure to work with and I will absolutely
recommend him, and hope myself to use him again on my next project.
